We provide private emergency dental appointments from our practice in Newport, Isle of Wight for both existing patients and patients who are not currently registered with us.

When should I contact an emergency dentist?
You should contact a dentist if you develop a dental problem that requires urgent assessment.
Common reasons patients contact us for an emergency dental appointment include:
- Severe or persistent toothache
- Dental swelling or suspected infection
- A broken or fractured tooth
- A lost or broken filling
- A lost or damaged crown
- Pain when biting or chewing
- Dental trauma or injury
- Problems following recent dental treatment
- A broken denture causing pain or difficulty eating

What happens during an emergency dental appointment?
The first aim of an emergency appointment is to identify the cause of the problem and determine the most appropriate treatment.
Your dentist will discuss your symptoms and examine the affected area. Dental X-rays may also be required depending on the nature of the problem.
Where appropriate, treatment may be carried out during the same appointment. In some situations, the immediate priority will be to relieve pain or stabilise the problem, with further treatment arranged at a later appointment.
Your dentist will explain their findings, available treatment options and any associated costs before proceeding wherever possible.
Can I book an emergency appointment if I am not registered with Monks Brook Dental?
Yes. We provide private emergency appointments for both registered and non-registered patients, subject to appointment availability.
If you have never visited Monks Brook Dental before, our team will take the necessary details when arranging your appointment.
Following your emergency treatment, you are also welcome to discuss joining the practice for ongoing dental care.
Emergency dental appointment fees
Our current emergency appointment fees are:
Registered Monks Brook Dental patients: £85
Patients not currently registered with the practice: £110
Additional treatment, investigations or X-rays may incur further charges.
